SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) environment, you set the msExchangeQueryBasedDN property for the users of a specific organizational unit (OU). Then, you set the distinguishedName property of the OU as the value of the msExchangeQueryBasedDN property. However, when a user tries to use the address book in Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access to perform a search operation by using the OU name to which the user belongs, the user receives the following message:
The item that you attempted to access appears to be corrupted and cannot be accessed.

Additionally, if you click the Show details button of the error message dialog box, the following information is displayed in the dialog box:

Note The issue also occurs when the user uses the address book to perform a search operation by using the Outlook Web Access light client. In this case, the user receives a different error message that states "Access is denied."

RESOLUTION
