SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services, you configure a report server to run in SharePoint integrated mode. You use cascading parameters in a report. When you try to create a SharePoint subscription on the report, you receive the following error message:
ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportParameterValueNotSetException: This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'Parameter'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value., ;
Info: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportParameterValueNotSetException: This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter.

RESOLUTION

Important The update for this problem is not included in cumulative update 5 for SQL Server 2008 or in cumulative update 3 for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1). To resolve this problem, you must install the updated Reporting Services SharePoint Add-in hotfix after you install the cumulative update package.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.
