SUMMARY

This article describes the 2007 Microsoft Office system issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated June 30, 2009.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • In Excel 2007, you cannot copy noncontiguous rows or columns from a large grid and then paste them into a small grid.

  • You edit and then save an Excel 2003 file that contains AutoShapes in Excel 2007. When you re-open the file in Excel 2003, the AutoShapes are automatically converted to Edit Mode. Additionally, if the AutoShapes were transparent, the transparency setting is lost and the corresponding text areas become invisible.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You add the registry keys that are described in KB 927009.
    • You open some Excel workbooks in Internet Explorer 7.0.
    • You click a sheet in an inactive browser.
    In this scenario, Excel crashes.

  • You have a 2007 Office application that contains both an embedded object and a picture. When you select and then programmatically copy the picture by using the Copy method, you receive the following error message:

Error: Copy method of picture class failed.
  • When you print a 2007 Excel workbook with the Entire workbook option enabled, the camera object or the paste link picture object does not print correctly.

    Notes
    • This problem occurs on any printer.
    • This problem also occurs when you preview multiple sheets.
    • This problem does not occur if you print a single sheet.
  • When you try to re-open an Excel 2007 workbook that contains a smart tag with a string longer than 255 characters, you receive a repair warning. Additionally, after the workbook is repaired, the string is truncated to 255 characters. This problem occurs when the smart tag information is embedded in the workbook.

  • When you save multiple files in Excel 2007 and then call the worksheet.unprotect function in the Workbook_BeforeSave event, you receive the following error message:

Method 'Unprotect' of object '_Worksheet' failed
  • You edit an Excel 2003 file that contains user-defined names with formulas in Excel 2007. After you save the file, the formulas for the defined names are lost.

This problem occurs when the formulas contain Analysis ToolPak functions and the file is saved in an earlier format.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You save an Excel 2007 file that has an Excel 4.0 macro sheet in the .xlsb format, the .xlsm format, or the .xltm format.
    • You close and then re-open the file.
    • You set a password to protect the file by selecting Protect structure and Windows or Protect and share Workbook.
    • You save the changes and then close the file.
    • You open the file again.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

Cannot insert Excel 4.0 macros in a restricted or password protected workbook.
After you click OK to recover the file, you receive the same error message several times. Finally, you receive the following error message:
The workbook cannot be opened or repaired by Microsoft Excel because it is corrupt.

  • 973105 AutoShapes are automatically converted to Edit mode when you open an Excel 2003 workbook
