You cannot use the drag-and-drop operation to copy a hyperlink that has more than 256 characters in Internet Explorer 7 or in Internet Explorer 8

SYMPTOMS

You cannot drag a hyperlink from Windows Internet Explorer and drop the hyperlink into another location. This issue may occur when you try to drop a hyperlink onto the Windows desktop, into the body of an e-mail message in Microsoft Office Outlook, or into the subject line of an e-mail message in Outlook. Additionally, you see a red or black circle with a line through the circle when you try to drop the hyperlink.

This issue occurs when the hyperlink has more than 256 characters.
