SYMPTOMS

You use the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 debugger to debug an application. When the debugger tries to sort processes, the debugger stops responding. This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The Visual Studio 2008 debugger uses a third-party Debug Engine (DE).
  • The DE uses the GUIDs as the Process IDs.

Note This problem does not occur in Visual Studio 2005.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. You must have Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer if no instance of Visual Studio is being used.
