Support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) ends on July 12, 2011. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you're running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2). For more information, refer to this Microsoft web page: Support is ending for some versions of Windows

You may be unable to uninstall this security update, or registry key verification may be incorrect in some scenarios. For example, this issue may occur in the following scenarios:
Scenario 1
You install this update for JScript 5.6 on a computer that is running Internet Explorer 6 and one of the following operating systems:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition Service Pack 2, and Windows Server 2003 with SP2 for Itanium-based Systems
You install Internet Explorer 7.
In this scenario, the Internet Explorer 7 installation upgrades JScript 5.6 to version 5.7, and the corresponding security update for JScript 5.7 has to be installed. However, registry key verification incorrectly indicates that the update is already installed.
Established methods to verify update installation, such as MBSA, Windows Update, Microsoft Update, WSUS, Configuration Manager 2007, and so on, correctly detect whether the update is required. Customers who implement custom detection methods that are based on registry key verification alone will be unable to accurately determine the installation state of this update in this scenario. We recommend that customers who implement custom detection base the detection on both registry key verification and file version verification. If one of these checks fails, the update may not be installed correctly.
Scenario 2
You install this update for JScript 5.6 on a computer that is running Internet Explorer 6 and one of the following operating systems:
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
You install Internet Explorer 7.
You install this update for JScript 5.7.
In this scenario, this security update for JScript 5.7 is not listed in the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel.
To avoid these issues, install Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 before you install this security update.
To resolve these issues, use one of the following methods:
Method 1
Install Internet Explorer 8.
Install this security update for JScript 5.8.
Method 2
Un-install Internet Explorer 7 by using the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel.
Un-install the security update for JScript 5.6.
Reinstall Internet Explorer 7.
Affected systems
These issues may affect the following systems:
JScript 5.7 when it is used with:
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
These issues do not affect the following systems:
Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2
Operating systems that already have Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 installed before you install this security update.

Service Pack 1 is integrated into the release version of Windows Server 2008. Therefore, RTM milestone files apply only to Windows Vista. RTM milestone files have a 6.0.0000.xxxxxx version number.
GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, critical issues. LDR service branches contain hotfixes in addition to widely released fixes.
The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are critical to maintaining the state of the updated component. The security catalog files (attributes not listed) are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
