SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall a Microsoft BizTalk RFID hotfix in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2, the BizTalk RFID service stops generating management events. Therefore, consumers of these events, such as the RFID Tray utility, no longer receive these events.

CAUSE

The BizTalk RFID service generates management events by using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). The problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section occurs because the WMI namespace is registered incorrectly after you uninstall a BizTalk RFID hotfix.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft to resolve this problem. We strongly recommend that you apply this hotfix before you install any other BizTalk RFID hotfixes. You can also apply this hotfix to systems that are currently experiencing this problem.

MORE INFORMATION

BizTalk RFID generates a management event when an event of interest occurs in the BizTalk RFID service. For example, a management event is generated when a process starts or stops. Monitoring software consumes these management events to monitor the health of BizTalk RFID. Examples of monitoring software include the RFID Tray utility and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager.
