This article describes an update for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Group Chat client. This update reduces server load and improves performance for chat rooms in which the number of participants exceeds a configurable threshold.

For more information about the update, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: After you apply this update, the automatic updates to the participant list in the Group Chat clients are disabled when a configurable threshold is exceeded on the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Group Chat server. This new feature reduces the load on the Group Chat server. In this case, if users who are running Group Chat clients want to obtain a complete list of participants, they can manually request the list.
