SYMPTOMS

After you apply the update that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 969819, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat Server starts and then stops immediately. Additionally, you receive an error message that states that the database does not have the expected schema version.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the schema version in the Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat database is not updated automatically. Therefore, after you apply the update that is described in KB 969819, you must change the schema version in the Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat database.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, run the Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat Server Configuration Tool to apply the necessary changes to the schema version in the database.

MORE INFORMATION

After you apply the update that is described in KB 969819, you cannot uninstall the update.
