Article ID: 974055 - Last Review: July 28, 2009 - Revision: 1.0 Some DLL files are not updated when you install update 971091 for Visual Studio 2008
SYMPTOMSAfter you install security update 971091 for Visual Studio
2008, some DLLs may not be updated correctly. This security update correctly updates the PDB files that correspond to these DLL files. However, a mismatched set of PDB files and DLL files on the computer may cause debugging to fail. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, run the new version of the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable after you install the update. This new version f the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable is included in the Visual Studio 2008 update. When you run the new version of the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable after you install the update, the DLL files are updated, the PDB files and the DLL files are synchronized, and debugging works correctly.
Note Typically, the file name for the Visual C++ Redistributable update is Vcredist_x86.exe. You can also install the new version of the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable from the Microsoft Download Center.
