Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you receive a meeting request. Then, the corresponding calendar item for the meeting request is added to the calendar, but you do not respond to the request. If you delete the meeting request without responding, the corresponding calendar item is deleted, as you expect. However, in this scenario, you do not receive a message that states that the corresponding calendar item is deleted.

After you install the hotfix package that is described in KB article 974489, and you experience the scenario that is described in the "Symptoms" section, an event log entry that resembles the following is logged in the Application event log:

Other information about the meeting invitation is still logged in the event log.
