When your Zune player is connected to the Zune HD & AV Dock v4, you may not hear any audio output or see any video output from your Zune player.
This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
- The dock is not receiving power.
- The cables for the dock are not connected correctly.
- The player to which you are connecting is not set up correctly.
To resolve this issue, try the following steps:
- Connect the Zune HD & AV Dock v4 to a power source. The dock requires power from the USB cable to function correctly. You can plug the USB cable into your computer or into the AC adapter. If you are watching HD video on your Zune HD player, you have to have the dock connected to the AC Adapter.
- Enable TV Out on the player. To do this, follow the steps, depending on your model of the player.
Zune HD Players- On the home screen on the player, tap Settings.
- Tap Display.
- Tap TV Output.
- Select HDMI or Composite, depending on how you connect the dock to your television set.
Other non-touchscreen players- On the home screen on the player, select Settings.
- Select Display.
- Select TV Out to change the setting it to On.
Note The following Zune players do not support TV Out functionality:- Zune 4GB Digital Media Player
- Zune 8GB Digital Media Player
- Zune 16GB Digital Media Player
- Only the Zune HD 16GB or Zune HD 32GB players support HD video. If you do not have a Zune HD Player, you cannot use an HDMI cable to connect your Zune player to your television set. You must use the A/V composite cable instead.
- Make sure that the all cables are fully inserted and secure on the Zune HD & AV Dock v4 and on the television set or the receiver to which the Zune HD & AV Dock v4 is connected.
- Make sure that the television set or the receiver is turned on.
- Some television sets or receivers may have multiple input jacks, such as Video 1 and Video 2 . Make sure that the cables are connected to the correct input jacks, and that the television set or receiver is configured to use that input source.
For more information about which input jack to use, or about how to configure your television or audio receiver, see the documentation that is included with your device, or contact the manufacturer.
The navigation pad at the top of the remote cannot control the touchscreen of the Zune HD player. The remote's navigation pad can only be used to control the menu items that are displayed when you are using TV output.
