SYMPTOMS

You develop a ClickOnce application by using the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. You publish the ClickOnce application and then you install it in a host application. When the host application verifies the signature in the manifest of the ClickOnce application, the host application crashes.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the System.Security.Cryptography.Xml.ManifestSignedXml.VerifyAuthenticodeSignature method uses native code instead of managed code.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
