SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated October 27, 2009.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you open an encrypted e-mail message in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you are prompted for the PIN by a dialog box. In this case, if you enter the PIN, the encrypted message opens.

However, if you do not entry the PIN and cancel the dialog box, you are not being prompted for the PIN any longer when you try to open the message. This behavior will cause a security issue.
  • You are running Office Outlook 2007 on a client computer that has the Catalan Language Interface Pack (LIP) installed. When you try to print the calendar in the Weekly style, the options for the Weekly style are displayed incorrectly in the Page Setup: Weekly Style dialog box.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • In Office Outlook 2007, you receive a signed message that has an .msg file attached.
    • You open the signed message and save the attached .msg file to the computer.
    • You open the saved .msg file, make some changes, and then save the changes.
    • In Office Outlook 2007, you create a new message, attach the updated .msg file, sign and then send the message.
    • You open the sent message from the Sent Items folder.
In this scenario, the attached .msg file does not contain the changes that you saved.
  • You set Hebrew as the primary editing language for the 2007 Microsoft Office applications. In this case, you create a new message in Office Outlook 2007. The text in the message will be formatted from right-to-left. Then, you change the primary editing language to English, the text in the HTML message and in the RTF messages will be in the formatted left-to-right.

However, the text in the plain messages will be formatted right-to-left unexpectedly.
  • You change the default Quick Click category in the Set Quick Click dialog box. Then, you restart Office Outlook 2007. However, the default Quick Click category is changed back to the original category unexpectedly.
  • In Office Outlook 2007, you cannot view a user's calendar even if the following Reviewer permission level properties are set for the for the calendar:
    • The Free/Busy time check box or the Free/Busy time, subject, location check box is selected.
    • The Folder visible check box is selected.
  • You start Office Outlook 2007 and then dismiss all reminders. However, some dismissed reminders appear again when you restart Office Outlook 2007.
  • You install an Office Outlook add-in to open Microsoft Office Word documents from Outlook 2007. However, when you run Office Outlook 2007 and Microsoft Office Communicator at the same time, you cannot open Office Word documents by running the add-in.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You connect Office Outlook 2007 to a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory that has the Hebrew users.
    • There is a Hebrew user whose name starts with a double-byte character set (DBCS) character.
    • In Office Outlook 2007 address book, you type the first DBCS character of the user name in the Search box.
In this scenario, the pointer does not move to the entry for the user.
  • When you subscribe many IMAP4 folders in Office Outlook 2007, some messages in the IMAP4 folders are not downloaded as expected. If you unsubscribe and then subscribe to the folders again, the messages will be downloaded as expected.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You run Office Outlook 2007 in the Cached Exchange Mode.
    • You select the Download Headers and then Full Items option. You download all headers of the messages and then download the complete messages.
In this scenario, Outlook 2007 crashes if the reading pane is visible and you click the header of a received e-mail message.
  • Office Outlook 2007 crashes when you open a recurring meeting request that has a signed message attached.
  • In Office Outlook 2007, you save a message that has an attachment as an .msg file. However, you cannot open the attachment from the .msg file when Office Outlook 2007 is closed.
  • When you use the import-mailbox cmdlet to import the .pst files on a Microsoft Exchange server, Microsoft Exchange Management Shell crashes. Additionally, the .pst files are not imported.
  • In Office Outlook 2007, you right-click an attachment in a message and then save the attachment to a folder on a SharePoint site. After that, if you right-click an attachment in another message, and then click Save As, the Save As dialog box still displays the last local directory that was selected instead of the folder on the SharePoint site.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You are running Office Outlook 2007 in online mode.
    • You open the Inbox folder and hold down the DELETE key to delete the messages.
In this scenario, the delete operation stops. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Some items cannot be deleted. they were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • In Office Outlook 2007, you open a folder and view the messages that are sorted by From.
    • You delete the e-mail messages or set the Read or Unread state of e-mail messages.
In this scenario, the e-mail messages that you deleted are not removed from the From view. Additionally, the Read or Unread states of the e-mail messages that you changed are not updated.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You select e-mail recipients from the address book in Office Outlook 2007.
    • In the Select Name dialog box, you enter full-width space in the To-> box.
    • You send the message.
In this scenario, the message is sent to the unexpected recipient.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • In Office Outlook 2007, instead of the default Sent Items folder to save the sent e-mail messages, you select a different mailbox folder.
    • You delete that folder from the mailbox and then you send messages.
In this scenario, the messages are sent successfully. The sent messages are expected to be saved in the default Sent Items folder. However, the sent messages remain in the Outbox folder of the mailbox unexpectedly.

  • You save an e-mail message as an .msg file in Office Outlook 2007. When you try to open the .msg file, the file does not open and you receive the following error message:
The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch that you are using.
This problem may occur when the path of the .msg file contains a "-s" that is followed by a space.

For example, the folder name that contains the .msg file contains a "-s " as in the following folder name:
    c:\-s test\
  • You synchronize calendar items or contact items from Office Outlook 2007 to lists that are on a Windows SharePoint Services website, on a SharePoint Server website, or on a SharePoint Online website. In this case, duplicated calendar items or duplicated contact items are created in the lists.

This problem occurs when you have more than 700 items to synchronize.
  • You are prompted for user credentials when you use a user profile to start Office Outlook 2007 for the first time. However, Outlook 2007 crashes after you enter the password and then you click to select the Remember my password check box.
  • 975920 The "Send via E-mail" option is unavailable for calendars that are shared with you in Office Outlook 2007
