Emails promoted by using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Data Migration Manager cannot be reassigned

SYMPTOMS

You cannot reassign an e-mail message that was promoted in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Data Migration Manager. You also cannot reassign an e-mail message in which the state or status was changed using the SetStateEmailRequest class in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Software Development Kit (SDK).

RESOLUTION

This problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

After you install the hotfix you have to manually change the PromoteClosedEmail registry key by completing the following steps:
  1. Log on to the computer where Microsoft Dynamics CRM Data Migration Manager is installed.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Data Migration Wizard\PromoteClosedEmail
  4. Right-click PromoteClosedEmail, click Modify, and then type 1 for the Value data.
