INTRODUCTION

An August 2009 daylight saving time (DST) update is available for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices. The update that this article describes changes the time zone data to accommodate DST changes in several countries, as outlined in this article.

Important notes
  • Make sure that you uninstall DST update 958729, the December 2008 cumulative DST update, before you install this update. The start and end time of your appointments will be adjusted.
  • The installation file (.MSI file) on a computer installs and runs the installation file (.CAB file) on the device. However, this occurs only if the device is connected to the computer, when you run the computer installation file (.MSI file). If a second device is attached to the same computer, you must run the installation file (.MSI file) on the computer again.

Updates for the August 2009 DST update

How to install the software update

First, uninstall the December 2008 DST update (update 958729). Then, if you can connect the device to a computer, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Windows Mobile-based device to the computer.
  2. Download and then run the WindowsMobile-KB975353.msi file. Follow the instructions that appear.

    Note If you have to install this update on multiple devices, you must repeat these steps for each device.
If you cannot connect the device to a computer, an update file is available. There are many ways to install the update file. For example, you can follow these steps:
  1. Download the WindowsMobile-KB975353.CAB file for the Windows Mobile-based device to a computer.
  2. Attach the update file to an e-mail message, and then send the e-mail message to an account that you can access from the device.
  3. On the device, open the e-mail message, and then save the attached file.
  4. Locate the file, and then run the file to install the update.
