FIX: Error message when you configure a UDDI database on a named instance of SQL Server in BizTalk Server 2009: "Unable to connect to the Database Server"

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009:
  • You install Microsoft Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) Services 3.0 that is included with Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009.
  • After the installation is complete, you run the Microsoft UDDI Services Configuration utility to configure Microsoft UDDI Services.

    Note For detailed information about how to do this, refer to the "More Information" section.
  • You specify the database server name to a named instance of SQL Server.
In this scenario, the configuration fails. You receive an error message that resembles the following:
Unable to connect to the Database Server

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an error in the Microsoft UDDI Services Configuration utility.

RESOLUTION

Cumulative update information

For BizTalk Server 2009 UDDI Services, the hotfix that resolves this issue is included in Cumulative Update 1 for BizTalk Server 2009 UDDI Services.

Hotfix information
