INTRODUCTION

When you run Windows Live Messenger in Windows 7, you notice that there is an icon for Windows Live Messenger on the taskbar. Unlike in Windows XP or Windows Vista, the icon will not be moved to the notification area on the right side.

Moving the Windows Live Messenger icon to the notification area


To move the Windows Live Messenger icon to the notification area:

1. Close Windows Live Messenger, if it is running.

2. Right-click Windows Live Messenger on the Start menu, and then click Properties.

3. On the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, and select Windows Vista from the drop-down list.

4. Click OK to apply the settings. When you run Windows Live Messenger again, you can see the Windows Live Messenger icon on the notification area.
