Error message when you try to add a contact to Outlook in Communicator 2007 R2: "Cannot connect to Microsoft Office Outlook to add a contact because Outlook is not responding"

SYMPTOMS

On a computer that has Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or an earlier version of Outlook installed, you try to add a contact to Outlook in Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2. However, when you click Add to Outlook, you receive the following error message:
Cannot connect to Microsoft Office Outlook to add a contact because Outlook is not responding. Please close any open Outlook dialog boxes and try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
In this scenario, you receive this error message even if there are no open Outlook dialog boxes and regardless of whether Outlook is running.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, apply the following update:
