SUMMARY

The UnsupportedSQLServerVersion rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 warns you about SQL Server versions that are running with incompatible architecture. This rule also warns you about SQL Server versions that are running at an earlier update state than is required to upgrade to the next version release that supersedes Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Additionally, this rule lists unresponsive databases.

Note The UnsupportedSQLServerVersion rule ships in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 cumulative update package that was released in October 2009. It is not part of the original release of Pre-Upgrade Checker. The original release of Pre-Upgrade Checker ships in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

When you run Pre-Upgrade Checker, the UnsupportedSQLServerVersion rule reports information about computers that are running versions of SQL Server that do not meet the minimum version requirements. The rule reports this information in the following format:

DataSource = data source name, Version = SQL version number, 64-bit Edition = Yes/No


This rule reports information about unresponsive databases in the following format:

DataSource = data source name, Name = [database name]


SharePoint Server 2007 requires a 64-bit edition of SQL Server. The minimum required SQL Server versions are as follows:
  • SQL Server 2008 Express Edition Service Pack 1, version number 10.0.2531
