SUMMARY

The WebPartInfo rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 October 2009 cumulative update provides information about the Web parts that are referenced in a farm. These Web parts must be installed on the farm that is running Microsoft SharePoint Foundations 2010 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 for the farm to operate correctly after an upgrade.

When you run Pre-Upgrade Checker, the WebPartInfo rule provides information about the Web parts in the following format:
Information Only : Web Part information
The following web parts are being used in this SharePoint farm:
Id = Web part identifier, Type = Web part class, Reference = Web part reference count, Status = Installed/Missing


Note Web part identifier is the placeholder for the identifier of the Web part. Web part class is the placeholder for the name of the Web part class. Web part reference count is the placeholder for the number of Web part references. Installed/Missing is the placeholder for the status of a Web part that can be installed or is missing.

If missing files are listed, you can do one of the following:
  • Install the missing files on the server before you perform an in-place upgrade.
  • Build a new farm with the listed files installed.
  • Remove the content that references the missing files.

Note The WebPartInfo rule ships in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 October 2009 cumulative update. The WebPartInfo rule is not part of the original release of Pre-Upgrade Checker that is shipped in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2.
