You cannot make all nine copies of a recorded TV show that has multiple files in Windows 7

Consider the following scenario:

• You have a computer that is running Windows 7.
• Your computer has a tuner that complies with the Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB) standard.
• In Windows Media Center, you record one TV show into two or more files.
• You try to make nine copies of the TV show.

In this scenario, you cannot make all nine copies of the TV show.

NoteThe ISDB standard is a Japanese standard for digital television (DTV) and for digital radio. The Dubbing 10 rule states that a recorded TV show can be copied for up to nine times and can be moved one time.

This problem occurs because Windows Media Center generates only one license for the recorded TV show. This license controls the number of copies that you can make. However, this license is shared across the multiple files of a recorded TV show. Each file copy is counted to be a copy of the TV show.
