SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2.
  • At a command prompt, you use the BTSTask AddResource command to add a resource artifact to a BizTalk application. This resource artifact is one of the following artifact types:
    • System.BizTalk:File

Note This is an ad hoc file.
    • System.BizTalk:PostProcessingScript
    • System.BizTalk:PreProcessingScript

The locally-unique identifier (LUID) of the newly added resource artifact is displayed in the Command Prompt window after you run the command.
  • You use the BTSTask ListApp command to print a list of all the resource artifacts in the BizTalk application. This list is printed to a resource specification file.
In this scenario, the newly added resource artifact's LUID that is in the resource specification file differs from the LUID that is returned by the BTSTask AddResource command. The LUID in the resource specification file is in the following format:
N:ResourceName

Note N is a placeholder for the value of the nID column for the BizTalk application in the bts_application table of the BizTalk Management database.

However, the LUID that is returned by the BTSTask AddResource command is in the following format:
ApplicationName:ResourceName

Because of the inconsistent format of the LUIDs, you may experience another problem. This problem occurs if you use the BTSTask ExportApp command to selectively export artifacts from an application into an .msi file by specifying the ResourceSpec parameter. Then, you specify LUIDs for artifacts in the ApplicationName:ResourceName format in the resource specification file. In this case, you cannot export the resource artifacts, and you receive a warning message that resembles the following:
Warning: Resource "LUID' is either invalid or not part of the application 'BizTalk Application'.

Note If you use BizTalk Server 2009, the Event Source and Event Category in above events are “BizTalk Server 2009”.
