The Calendar Month View displays a numeric date and not an abbreviated month name when you set the Regional Settings to Japanese or to Korean in Outlook Web Access for Exchange Server 2007

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a mailbox that is located on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
  • You access your mailbox by using Outlook Web Access (OWA) and then set the Regional Settings in OWA to Japanese or to Korean.
In this scenario, the Calendar Month View displays the date as a numeric number and not as an abbreviated month name.
For example, "Aug 1" display as "8 1". This is confusing because it is unclear if the date is August 1 or if the date is January 8.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by the User Interface (UI) localization. Exchange Server 2007 uses an unclear date format when the regional setting in OWA is set to Japanese or set to Korean.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the following update rollup:
