FIX: Error message when you use BizTalk Adapter for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in BizTalk Server 2009: "Error occurred during initialization of VM"

On a computer that is running Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009, you use the BizTalk Adapter for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to connect to a system that is running JD Edwards EnterpriseOne from Oracle. However, the adapter may not initialize the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Therefore, you cannot use BizTalk Server to exchange messages that have the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system. When this problem occurs, events that resemble the following may be logged in the Application log:

Registry changes

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

After you apply the hotfix, the following registry change is required.

For x86-based computers

Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:

1. Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then click OK .
2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BizTalkAdapters\Config\Global\Adapters
3. On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click DWORD .
4. Type JVMMemory , and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, click Modify .
6. Type 900 , and then click OK .

Note The value for JVMMemory registry key needs to be tuned after the Java VM is initialized successfully but that can only be done through testing on your end . The minimum value for JVMMemory is: 1, the maximum value is: 3072.

For x64-based computers

Follow these steps, and then quit Registry Editor:

1. Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then click OK .
2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\BizTalkAdapters\Config\Global\Adapters
3. On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click DWORD .
4. Type JVMMemory , and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, click Modify .
6. Type 1000 , and then click OK .

Note The value for JVMMemory registry key needs to be tuned after the Java VM is initialized successfully but that can only be done through testing on your end . The minimum value for JVMMemory is: 1, the maximum value is: 3072.

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009 and the BizTalk Adapters for Enterprise Applications installed to apply this hotfix.

Note BizTalk Adapters for Enterprise Applications are also known as BizTalk LOB Adapters.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart the BizTalk host instance after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table.
