SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 Conferencing Add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook does not load in the Outlook toolbar. Therefore, you experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • The Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in toolbar and the Live Meeting Conferencing menu are not displayed in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
  • The Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in is disabled in Outlook.
  • You receive the following error message in the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in log:

    UNEXPECTEDLY failing registry read value 'AuthSecret'.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a user profile or a user security identifier (SID) is changed or is corrupted, or when a user account is moved to a new domain. When this behavior occurs, the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in value encrypts values that enable only the same logon credentials to decrypt the values that are encrypted by the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in.

RESOLUTION

To fix this problem, apply the following update:
976129 Description of the update for the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in for Outlook: January 2010


After you apply this update, the Live Meeting 2007 Conferencing Add-in for Outlook prompts you to resynchronize the Live Meeting 2007 account.

Let me fix it myself

To work around this problem yourself follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then right-click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Live Meeting\Preferences
  4. Click Delete.
  5. If you are on a 32-bit operating system locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.LiveMeeting.Addins
    If you are on a 64-bit operating system locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.LiveMeeting.Addins
  6. Right-click LoadBehavior, and then click Modify.
  7. In the Value data box, type 3, and then click OK.
  8. Close Registry Editor, and then start Office Outlook.
  9. On the Conferencing menu, click User Accounts.
  10. In the User Accounts dialog box, click Test Connection.
