This article
describes the Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 issue that is fixed in the
Project Server 2007 hotfix package that is dated February 23,
2010.
This article describes the following items about the hotfix package:
The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
The prerequisites for installing the hotfix
package.
Whether you must restart the computer after you install
the hotfix package.
Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other
hotfix packages.
You accept updates for assignments in Microsoft Office
Project 2007. In this case, the values for actual work and for actual overtime
work differ from the values submitted by the resources. When you save and then
publish the project, the resource timesheet on the My Tasks
page shows the same incorrect values.
You enable the Use this field for matching generic
resources option. In this case, the Resource Assignment view does not
group on the Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS) items.
Note After you apply this hotfix package, this issue is resolved.
However, this issue reoccurs if you manually specify the calculation
option.
Consider the following scenario. You try to publish a
project through Office Project Server Interface. The project summary task has a
budget cost resource assigned to it. In this scenario, the % Work
Complete changes to zero.
Note After you apply this hotfix package, how budget cost resources
are calculated changes. This issue is then resolved.
When timephased baseline work is edited directly in Office
Project 2007, values are not saved in the MSP_EpmTaskBaselineByDay table.
Therefore, the OLAP database cannot obtain this information.
When a project manager approves task updates, the duration
of the task is changed even when the duration of the task is a fixed
duration.
Note This issue occurs only when the task updates are approved
individually. This issue does not occur when all the resources that are
assigned to the task have task updates and a project manager approves these
task updates at the same time.
In a resource plan, you set the Column
interval field to Months. When you click
Save or Save and Publish, you may receive the
following error message:
General error: Work value used is
invalid. (Use this error information along with other errors to find out the
cause of the problem.)
A user who is a member of a default project manager's group
visits the Close Tasks to Update page. In this case, the
project manager receives the following error message:
Access Denied.
When you enter task updates for material resources on the
My Tasks page, the number that you entered and the number that
is saved in the database are different. This issue may occur when you replace
an existing value with a reduced value.
Consider the following scenario. You put the mouse pointer
over a cell on the My Tasks page. This page contains duration or work. Then,
you format a Web part to show these values in days. In this scenario, the
values are shown in hours.
You print or export a My Tasks view to Microsoft Office
Excel. In this case, actual work in the timephased grid is displayed in hourly
units. This behavior occurs even when the actual work is formatted to display
in daily units.
You cannot save a timesheet when there is only one workday
in the last week of a period.
An incorrect currency symbol is displayed for the
Standard Rate field in Resource Center.
Under certain circumstances, Office Project Server 2007 may
crash when a calendar that points to itself as the base calendar is used in
scheduling. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
The timesheet fails to load indicating a timeout has
occurred.
On faster computers, you may also receive the following
error message:
The timesheet creation failed, because of
problems with the project server or with data validations, such as resources
not being valid work resources or users. Check your environment, and then try
again.
Additionally, an error message that resembles the following is
logged in the Application log:
Faulting application
w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, stamp 45d691cc, faulting module kernel32.dll,
version 5.2.3790.4480, stamp 49c51cdd, debug? 0, fault address
0x0000000000027ded.
You assign a cost to a cost resource and then publish a
project plan. In this case, the cost value for the cost resource in a Data
Analysis view differs from the value in Office Project 2007.
