On This PageSYMPTOMSMicrosoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 introduced a Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) plug-in to enable Windows Server 2008 to back up Exchange Server 2007 databases. If the Exchange Server 2007 databases reside on a volume mount point, Windows Server 2008 cannot back up these databases. When you try to back up these databases, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Application will not be able for recovery from this backup. CAUSEThis issue occurs because Windows Server 2008 cannot determine the relative path for the volume shadow copy of the Exchange Server database files. This prevents the verification of the Exchange Server databases.
