Error code 80070005 when playing Zune video on an Xbox 360 console

Symptoms

When you try to download or stream a Zune video on your Xbox 360 console, you receive error code 80070005 and you see the following error message:
An error occurred during playback

Things to Try

This error code indicates there might be a problem with the video license. To try to resolve this issue, you can delete the license and download the video again. Here's how:
  1. On your Xbox 360 console, go to the Settings hub and select System.
  2. Select Memory.

  3. Select your storage device.
  4. Select System Items.
  5. Select Rights Database.
  6. In Rights Database, select Delete.
  7. Select Yes to confirm deletion of the file.
To download the video again, go to your purchase history. Here's how:
  1. On your Xbox 360 console, go to the Settings hub and select Account.
  2. Select Download History.
  3. Select Zune Purchase History.
  4. Select your video title to download it again.

Once the download is complete, try to play the video on your Xbox 360 console again.

The licenses for all video content stored on your Xbox 360 console are deleted when you delete the rights database by following the steps above, but don't worry. When you are connected to Xbox LIVE, the licenses are automatically downloaded again when you play a video.
