On This PageINTRODUCTIONAn update rollup package for the Validate a Configuration Wizard of Windows Server 2008 R2 is available. This rollup package resolves the following issues. Issue 1 Consider the following scenario:
Validating the service principal names for Name: name.
An error occurred while executing the test.
There is no such object on the server.
After you install this hotfix package, the Validate Service Principal Name test does not indicate a failure of the test because the current user on to the cluster node is from the trusted domain. Issue 2 When you run the Validate a Configuration Wizard on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based cluster after you configure multiple virtual network adapters to share one media access control (MAC) address, the validation fails. Additionally, you may receive an error that resembles the following error message: Verifying that there are no node adapters with the same EUI-48 physical address. Found duplicate physical address address on node servername.domainname.com adapter Local Area Connection <number> and node servername.domainname.com adapter Local Area Connection number. Resolution After you install this hotfix package, the validation indicates a failure of the test only when duplicated MAC addresses are found in the same subnet. Issue 3 The Validate a Configuration Wizard reports an error in the Windows Firewall validation test when some network adapters have duplicated GUIDs in the cluster. Note If the cluster node uses a prepared image that is unsupported, this issue may frequently occur. Additionally, you receive the following error message: Validate Windows Firewall Configuration Validate that the Windows Firewall is properly configured to allow failover cluster network communicaiton. Validating that Windows Fireall is properly configured to allow failover cluster network communication. An error occured while executing the test. There was an error verifying the firewall configuration. An item with the same key has already been added After you install this hotfix package, the Windows Firewall validation test does not return an error in the scenario that is mentioned in the Issue 3. Issue 4 The Validate a Configuration Wizard reports a warning in the List Cluster Volumes test when you configure a pass through disk in a virtual machine (VM), and when you add the VM into a Cluster resource group. Additionally, you receive the following error message: Physical Disk resource <name> has a value for the property named DiskrunChkDsk that is not the default value. This property determines whether the operating system runs chkdsk on one or more volumes of a physical disk before attempting to mount the volumes and bring the disk online. It also determines how the disk and volumes are mounted and brought online. It may be desirable to use a value other than the default in some situations, this warning is only an indication that the value is something other than the default so that it can be determined by the administrators of the failover cluster that the setting is appropriate.
The default value is 0, which indicates that the failover cluster will do a quick check of each volume of the resource during online process. It will run chkdsk if it is detected that the volumes need it. If chkdsk is unable to repair the problem, the resource will have its state changed to failed.
The current value is 6, which indicates that the volumes on the physical disk resource will not be mounted and the disk will be in an offline read/write state. Some programs or storage utilities may be able to do I/O with the disk using raw block level I/O.
After you install this hotfix package, the List Cluster Volumes test does not show this warning message if a disk is configured as a Hyper-V pass-through disk. RESOLUTIONTo resolve all these issues, apply this hotfix. Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
