INTRODUCTION

Customers who purchase or license Microsoft Office Word 2007 or Microsoft Office Word 2003 from Microsoft after January 10, 2010 for use in the United States and its territories have to use updated software that does not include a particular custom XML markup tagging implementation. The Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Presentation Formats (“Compatibility Pack”), which is currently available from the Microsoft Download center, also no longer includes support for this particular custom XML markup tagging implementation.

This utility helps you determine whether the copy of Office Word 2003 or Office Word 2007 that is installed on your computer and that is licensed for use inside the United States and it territories can read custom XML markup tags from XML-based files. The utility will display this information in its main window.
