SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You set a message size limit for a user on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
  • The user right-clicks an oversized file, points to Send to, and then clicks Mail Recipient.
  • The user sends the message that has the oversized file from Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
  • An oversized message is unexpectedly transferred from Office Outlook 2007 to the computer that is running Exchange Server 2007.
In this scenario, the message remains in the Outbox. Also, the following event is logged on the computer that is running Exchange Server 2007:
MAPISendMail: Failed to submit message. Attachments to the message exceeded the size limit set by your Administrator.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the following update:
  • 978401 Description of the Office Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp): February 23, 2010

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
