On This PageSYMPTOMSOn a computer that has multiple versions of Microsoft Office Access installed, Microsoft Windows Installer may start when you start Microsoft Access 2010, Microsoft Office Access 2003, Microsoft Office Access 2007 or Microsoft Office Access 2007 Runtime. The configuration process takes a long time when you start Access 2010. Specifically, this problem occurs after you run an earlier version of Access on the same computer.
CAUSEThe Windows Installer repair operation registers Office Access 2007 every time that you start Office Access 2007 after you use Access 2010. Similarly, the Windows Installer repair operation registers Access 2010 every time that you start Access 2010 after you use an earlier version of Access. Microsoft Access 2000 and Microsoft Access 2002 do not start a repair operation after you use a later version of Access. If the version of Access that you start is the same as the version of Access that you previously used, the Windows Installer repair operation does not occur.
Additionally, the Access 2010 configuration process takes a longer time because it has improvements in the Microsoft Access engine that make Access 2010 more robust. MORE INFORMATIONSteps to reproduce the problem
