A second dot is added to the file names of the automatic generated attachments on an Exchange Server 2007 SP2 or later version server

Consider the following scenario:

• You have a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Serivce Pack 2 (SP2) or Exchange Server 2007 Serivce Pack 3 (SP3).
• A user uses the Mac OC X 10.6 Snow Leopard mail client that is an Exchange Web Services application to send an email message. 
• The email message includes an inline attachment and resembles the following:
  Text line 1
  
  Text line 2
  
  <inline attachment>
  
  Text line 3
  
  Text line 4
• This email message is processed by an Exchange Server 2007 SP2 server or a later version.

In this scenario, this email message that resembles the following when it is received:

Text line 1

Text line 2

<the_former_inline_attachment> , ATT00001..htm or ATT00001..txt (that contains "Text line 3 Text line 4")

You may notice that there are two dots in the "ATT00001..htm" file name and in the "ATT00001..txt" file name.

This problem occurs because the server adds a second dot to the "ATT00001.htm" file name or to the "ATT00001.txt" file name.

To resolve this problem, install the following update rollup:
