SYMPTOMS

User Account Control is a feature that is supported in Windows 7 and in Windows Vista. User Account Control provides an administrative level of control to install and to use applications that require access to operating system components that are protected. When users use the Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 client together with either Windows 7 or with Windows Vista, the following problems may occur:

  • On a computer that is running Windows 7, a user tries to start the Office Live Meeting 2007 client. However, the following error message is generated:
A referral was returned from the server.
  • On a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Vista, the presenter of a Live Meeting shares the desktop with an attendee of the live meeting. The presenter gives control of the shared desktop to the attendee. The attendee starts an application from the shared desktop. Then, the User Account Control feature of the client operating system prompts the attendee to confirm access to the application. The attendee closes the User Account Control prompt. Then, the application opens on the shared desktop. The attendee cannot use the application. However, the attendee continues to access the shared desktop.

CAUSE

These problems occur because the Live Meeting 2007 client requires updates. The updates lets users operate in the protected areas of the client operating systems. The client operating systems support the User Account Control feature.
