SUMMARY

A hotfix is available that enables support for extended protection for the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008. The changes that this hotfix provides affect how integrated Windows authentication is handled by the following classes:
  • HttpWebRequest
  • HttpListener
  • SmtpClient
  • SslStream
  • NegotiateStream
These changes also affect how integrated Windows authentication is handled by related classes that are in the System.Net namespace and in related namespaces. Additionally, these changes may affect the following:
  • applications that use the classes to make Web requests or other requests where integrated Windows authentication is used
  • applications that use the classes to receive responses where integrated Windows authentication is used
  • Web servers that are configured to use integrated Windows authentication
  • client applications that are configured to use integrated Windows authentication
