You copy some text from a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Web site. Then, you paste the text into a Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 conversation window. However, the pasted text is unreadable.

This problem occurs because the HTML content that is copied has more than 20 layers of embedded elements. When you paste the HTML content into Office Communicator 2007 R2, the format information is missing. Therefore, Office Communicator 2007 R2 cannot convert the HTML content from UTF-8 encoding to Unicode encoding.

To resolve this problem, apply the following hotfix package:
978564 Description of the Office Communicator 2007 R2 hotfix package

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
