Syntax error message when you run the unmask command in Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 and when VDS hardware provider is "VDS_HWT_HYBRID" typeArticle ID: 981892 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSYou have a Virtual Disk Service (VDS) hardware provider on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7. When you run the following Diskraid command to unmask a single LUN to several hosts, you receive a syntax error message: Unmask Lun add wwn= {World Wide Names (WWN) of host ports.}CAUSEThis issue occurs if you have a "VDS_HWT_HYBRID" type of VDS hardware provider. In this situation, the Diskraid command incorrectly determines the VDS hardware provider to be invalid when the Diskraid command parses the Diskraid command string. Therefore, you receive a syntax error message. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
