FIX: An exception occurs when you filter or run an MDX query on a database that contains a dynamic set in SSAS 2008 or SSAS 2008 R2

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008) or SSAS 2008 R2 .
  • You create a dynamic set in a SSAS 2008 or SSAS 2008 R2 database.
  • You use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, or Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to filter this database. Or, you run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query that uses a sub-select statement on this database.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Internal error: An unexpected exception occurred.
