SYMPTOMS

You try to create a read-only domain controller (RODC) installation media or an RODC SYSVOL installation media by using the Ntdsutil.exe tool together with the Install from Media (IFM) option on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. In this scenario, the installation media is created successfully, and you can use the installation media to install RODCs. However, many instance of the event that has Event ID 476 are logged in the Application log during the installation media creation process. These events may overwrite some important events. The following event is an instance of an event that has Event ID 476:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: ESENT
Event Category: Database Page Cache
Event ID: 476
Computer: <dc name>
Description:
NTDS (pid) NTDSA: The database page read from the file "C:\<file path>\Active Directory\ntds.dit" at offset <offset> for 8192 (0x00002000) bytes failed verification because it contains no page data. The read operation will fail with error -1019 (0xfffffc05). If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because a flag is not set during the installation media creation process.
