FIX: ISA Server 2006 or Forefront TMG 2010 does not recognize a Subject Alternative Name certificate on a non-English Windows operating system

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

You install Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 or Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) 2010 on a computer that is running a non-English version of a Windows operating system.
You use ISA Server 2006 or Forefront TMG 2010 to publish an internal Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Web server.
You configure a certificate for the web server that contains a Subject Alternative Name field.

In this scenario, ISA Server 2006 or Forefront TMG 2010 does not recognize the certificate as a valid certificate that matches the server name.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, install ISA Server 2006 on a computer that is running an English version of Windows.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Forefront TMG 2010 Service Pack 1.
