"This product must be installed to Q:" error message when you try to install Office 2010 that is delivered by Click-to-Run

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Office 2010 that is delivered by Click-to-Run, you receive the following error message:
There was a problem setting up Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010: This product must be installed to Q:. Ensure that Q: is unused and try again.
This problem occurs when the Q drive letter is assigned to a device, such as a hard disk drive.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Office 2010 that is delivered by Click-to-Run is installed on the Q drive. This cannot be changed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the assigned drive letter from Q to a different drive letter.  For more information about how to change the drive letter in Windows XP, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
