SYMPTOMS

You have an application that uses the tree-view control on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. When you call the TreeView_SetItem macro of the tree-view control many times, the operation takes longer to complete than it does in earlier versions of Windows.

CAUSE

The issue occurs because of an error in Comctl32.dll. When you call the TreeView_SetItem macro, the tree-view control is redrawn unconditionally. Redrawing the tree-view control takes a long time. Therefore, you will experience low performance in the computer if the TreeView_SetItem macro is called many times.
