SUMMARY

In Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 or in Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010, when you create a new Business Data Connectivity Model that contains External Content Types, tenants can then use the model to elevate their user permissions with the following:
  • Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
  • A database
  • A web service
  • A custom connecter

You can enable or disable these connectors to make sure that strict security over your tenants in a portioned environment is maintained.

MORE INFORMATION

To disable unwanted connectors, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click All Programs.
  2. Click Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products.
  3. Click SharePoint 2010 Management Shell.
  4. At the Windows PowerShell command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy
  5. Note the Business Data Connectivity proxy instance.
  6. You must set the EnableSystemType property to false for each unwanted connector. To do this, at the Windows PowerShell prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    $proxy.EnableSystemType("Connector_type",$false)
    Notes
    • To enable a connector, you must use the $true parameter.
    • The placeholder Connector_type can be one of the following:
      • WCF
      • Database

  7. Restart Internet Information Services (IIS) on all farm servers. To do this, on each server, click Start, click Run, type iisreset in the Open box, and then click OK.
After you complete these steps, you can verify that the connector is disabled or enabled by using the following Windows PowerShell command in the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell:
