Article ID: 927843 - Last Review: March 15, 2007 - Revision: 1.6 The Tablet PC Input Panel is unavailable when it is running in Admin Approval Mode in Windows VistaOn This PageSYMPTOMS After you try to start an application that requires
administrative credentials in Windows Vista, a User Account Control
dialog box appears and asks you for permission to continue. If you
click Continue to switch from a user account context to Admin
Approval Mode, a second User Account Control dialog box
prompts you to provide the password for an administrator account. However, the
desktop and the Tablet PC Input Panel are unavailable when the Tablet PC Input
Panel is running in Admin Approval Mode. Therefore, you cannot use the Tablet PC
Input Panel to type your credentials in the dialog box. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Tablet PC Input Panel always
runs in the security context of a standard user account. To block malicious
software from acquiring elevated administrator rights and permissions, Windows Vista only lets trusted processes
run when you try to start an application that requires administrator credentials. Trusted processes are processes that run in the security context of an administrator account. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use a standard keyboard to
enter administrator credentials. MORE INFORMATIONSteps to reproduce the problem
