However, the modem works and connects. CAUSEThis problem occurs because certain modem drivers cannot stream audio to the computer audio device in Windows Vista. Therefore, you cannot hear the dial tone or the modem handshake. RESOLUTIONThis problem does not prevent the modem from working in Windows Vista. You may be able to re-enable this feature by contacting the OEM or the modem manufacturer for an updated Windows Vista-compatible modem driver. APPLIES TO
