Article ID: 935777 - Last Review: May 16, 2008 - Revision: 3.0 FIX: The buffer size of the InternetQueryOptionW function is half of its actual size if you use INTERNET_OPTION_URL as the second parameter in Internet Explorer 7On This PageSYMPTOMSThe InternetQueryOptionW function should set the fourth parameter in bytes. The fourth parameter is used to set the buffer size. However, if you use INTERNET_OPTION_URL as the second parameter in Windows Internet Explorer 7, the buffer size is set in character numbers. Therefore, the buffer size is half of its actual size. Note This problem does not occur in earlier versions of Internet Explorer or in the InternetQueryOptionA function. CAUSEThis problem occurs because of an error in the Wininet.dll file. RESOLUTIONSecurity update informationTo resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.
