If the content of the window is a video that is running in Windows Media Center, the thumbnail does not show the actual running video. Instead, the thumbnail may only show a static image that is a "snapshot" of the video that was playing when the window was minimized. In some cases, the thumbnail may be black. Or the thumbnail may be white with a small green icon in its center. Similar behavior occurs when you use Windows Flip 3D view. For example, you may experience the following behavior with thumbnails for video that is playing in Windows Media Center:
