SYMPTOMS

You may experience the following symptoms when you try to create a Rich Text Format (RTF) document in a Croatian version of Windows Vista:
  • When you use the shortcut menu to create an RTF document anywhere on the computer other than the desktop, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Stvaranje datoteke 'Novo: Dokument u obliku obogaćenog teksta.rtf' nije moguće.
Sustav ne može pronaći navedeno polje.
When this problem occurs, a file that is named "Novo" is created. This file has no file name extension, and it is zero (0) bytes.
  • When you use the shortcut menu to create an RTF document on the desktop, the operation fails, and you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Stvaranje datoteke 'Novo: Dokument u obliku obogaćenog teksta.rtf' nije moguće.
    Parametar nije ispravan.
When this problem occurs, a file is not created on the desktop.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Vista tries to use the following name to create the file:
Novo: Dokument u obliku obogaćenog teksta.rtf
The operation fails because you cannot create a file that has a colon in the name.

Method 2: Modify the registry

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

Add a string value that is named "ItemName" and that has a value of "@"%ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe",-213" to the following registry subkey:
