This hotfix contains a design change to the Offline Folders feature in Windows Vista. Before this change, you could not delete or rename folders that were cached by Offline Folders when you were working offline.
Note You can already delete and rename files when you are offline. After you apply this hotfix, you can use a registry key to enable new functionality that lets you delete or rename cached folders while you are working offline.

, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type the path for the Offline File, and then press ENTER.
For example, the path of the Offline File would have a format that resembles one of the following:
UNC path: \\server\share\dir
Known folder path: {GUID}\dir
Note In this path, the {GUID} placeholder is the GUID of the known folder.
Mapped drive: Z:\dir
Environment variable: %userprofile%\dir
Right-click the path of the Offline File, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
File information
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
If you rename a folder when you are offline, the change is sent to the server as a "delete/create" operation when you synchronize files. For example, if you rename a directory that contains files and other subfolders when you are offline, the following sequence occurs when Offline Folders later synchronizes with the server:
Everything in the renamed directory is written to the server under the new directory name. This includes all file data.
The files and folders that are under the original folder name on the server are deleted from the server.
This functionality may not be suitable for situations in which cached folders that contain lots of data are renamed when a client is offline.
